Departure Lounge

After immigration and custom clearance, you will proceed to International Departure Lounge. The Passenger will not be allowed to go out of the Lounges (to Public Areas) once the formalities are completed. Departure Lounge
Follow the announcement for boarding by the airlines and proceed to the boarding gate for onward travel to the aircraft by bus / shuttle or by Automatic Passenger Boarding Bridge. Departure Lounge

Departure Procedures

All International departing passengers are required to check the following prior to the departure (but not limited):
  • Validity of Passport
  • Ticket information / date & time
  • Airline Baggage policy details
  • Security requirement details
  • Immigration policy details
  • Customs policy details

NECESSARY TRAVELLING DOCUMENTS FOR DEPARTURE

For departure through JIAP Airport following valid documents are required:

  1. CNIC
  2. Valid Airline Ticket

  3. Valid Visa (if applicable)
  4. CNIC
  5. Photo ID
  6. Health Certificate (if applicable)
  7. NOC or Ex-Pakistan Leave (Mandatory for Govt: Employees)
Passenger traveling through International / Domestic Flights will use respective gates designed for entry into briefing lounges following the procedure mentioned below.
  1. Follow the queue while entering through respective gate.
  2. Refrain from using your mobile phone while waiting.
  3. Show valid Airline ticket at the entrance gate.

Health Verification / Polio Vaccination

All the passengers travelling to outside Pakistan from any international Flights are advised to obtain “International Certificate for Polio Vaccination” before going to the Airport from the designated hospital / Centers of Ministry of Health, Government of Sindh.

The Polio Certificate may be obtained FREE of Cost from Jinnah Post Graduate University Hospital Karachi, Civil Hospital Karachi and other designated hospitals and medical Centers.

For the comfort of passengers, Karachi Airport has four (04) Polio Vaccination Counter, as follows:
  • Domestic Arrival, Concourse Area (Level-1) – outside the arrival lounge
  • International Departure Concourse Area (Level-2) – outside the lounge
  • Domestic Departure Concourse Area (Level-2) – outside the lounge
  • International Departure Lounge (after Custom Clearance area) - inside the lounge
Note: These counter also serve for Polio vaccination for children (below 5 years of age) for travelling passengers and visitors, free of Cost.

Baggage Security Screening (important tips for travelling passengers)

  1. Make a queuing line at ASF security screening desk
  2. Pass your baggage from the scanning machine, present yourself for body search and your baggage for inspection, if required and proceed to the respective airline counters for check-in

Baggage Cautions

  1. Please refuse to carry any items at the request of strangers, as these could contain following contraband items (or follow the link “Hassel-Free Security Tips”.)
    • Heroin, Drugs, Narcotics other intoxicating agents
    • Currency more than (PKR) Rs. 3000/- or US $ 10,000/- or equivalent foreign currency
    • Antiques
    • Intellectual Property Right infringements and infringed CDs
    • Firearms, ammunition and Explosives
    • Endangered Wild Life Species, Fauna and Flora as protected under the Wild Life Act and Cites
  2. Counterfeit currency and counterfeit products, Please hand-carry expensive items such as cameras and jewelry, or fragile items such as pottery or glass
  3. Please write your name, address and destination on your luggage in English in case your baggage gets lost
  4. If you have any item / currency which need to be declared at Customs, please go to the Customs declaration counter

If someone is found guilty of violating these rules, confiscation of the above mentioned items along with detention of the guilty may enacted.

Airline Check-in

All International departing passengers are required to check the validity of passport with valid Visa and ticket information prior to the departure. Also passengers are required to check the information on security, immigration and customs from the airport website prior to the departure.

To ensure a smooth departure from Jinnah International Airport Karachi, passengers are advised to check information on guidelines for liquids, aerosols and gels in carry-on baggage on airport website when packing baggage. Departing passengers are advised to arrive at the airport 1½ to 02 hours (for Domestic Flights) and 04 hours (for International Flights) prior to the scheduled time of departure of the flight.

Every Airline Operates has its own designated check-in counter for issuance of Boarding Passes and Luggage Tagging after necessary screening and security checks.

Airline Checkin

Immigration Process (for Int’l Passengers only)

  • After obtaining the passenger Boarding Pass, tagging of luggage/hand carries and holding the luggage in to the Conveyer belt, all international Travelling Passengers have to step towards the Immigration Desks / FIA Counters.

  • For the ease of passengers, Immigration desks / counters are divided into different sections.
    • All Passports
    • Pakistani Passport
    • Overseas Pakistani Passenger/ Card Holder
    • Foreigners / Diplomats
    • Old Citizens / Special Person
    • Women / Women along with Children
    • Taxpayers etc…

  • Non Pakistani Passengers departing from Islamic Republic of Pakistan are required to submit the embarkation form. Pakistani Passport holder / International Overseas Pakistani Passengers will not submit embarkation form at international airports at Pakistan. Special Desk for Overseas Pakistan Passengers namely “One Window Facilitation Desk” is also available to facilitate and provide assistance on 24 x 7 basis.   • Passengers are advised to queue-up at the immigration desk and have their traveling documents ready (passport, embarkation form and other necessary documents). The Immigration officer will verify your Photo ID and may ask several questions in accordance with the immigration procedures. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Procedure

  1. Stand in your corresponding lane (Tensa Barrier)
  2. Stay behind the queuing line at the respective immigration desk.
  3. Submit your following documents (but not limited):
    • Passport having valid Visa,
    • Polio Certificate
    • Embarkation Card (only for foreigners)
    • Other necessary documents (NOC, Photo ID, etc.)
  4. Once your passport is returned, you may pass through immigration and move to the International Departure Lounge (East Satellite) and wait for announcement to final Boarding proceeding to the aircraft.
  5. Please check your passport before leaving immigration counter that it is properly stamped.

Cautions for Immigration:

  1. Harassment to the Immigration officer is a crime U/s 506 of Pakistan Penal Code (Act XLV of 1860).
  2. Interference, interruption in the work of Immigration Officer is also a crime U/s 186 of Pakistan Penal Code (Act XLV of 1860).
  3. Intentional / not to deliberate immigration is a crime U/s 3/4 of Passport Act 1974 and Immigration Ordinance 1979.
